William Morris Peacock and Dragon Framed Art Print
The wonderful Peacock and Dragon textile pattern by renowned Arts & Crafts designer William Morris is featured on this giclée art print exhibition poster. In 1878, William Morris created this opulent pattern with ancient dragons and elegant peacocks.
Morris regarded Peacock and Dragon as one of his favourite designs. He loved the texture of the luxurious woven wool fabric. The birds and dragons’ arrangement were inspired in part by mediaeval Italian silks, but the blue colour scheme is also reminiscent of Islamic art, which influenced several of his designs.
